Establishing a lawn by sowing grass seeds
Establishing a lawn sowing seeds is a process that is best done during spring or autumn when temperature fluctuations are not pronounced and the daily temperature does not exceed 24°.
Preparation is based on:
- Sterilizing the soil, i.e. removing weeds
- Rough tillage of the soil, usually by machine (milling of the soil)
- Fine leveling, which means leveling the land
There are different types of seed mix, depending on the purpose of the area where it is sown.

Preparation is based on:
- Sunny positions
- Semi-shady positions
- Surfaces exposed to intensive treading
- Highly decorative lawns

The sowing of seeds is done manually, with the seeder moving crosswise on the surface in order to distribute the seeds evenly. The required quantity of seeds is 40-60g per 1m². It is necessary to cover the seeds with fine sifted soil in a thin layer. After sowing, it is necessary to roll the surface, then fertilize and water it. If the conditions are optimal, which means a sufficient amount of moisture, the seeds will germinate in five to seven days. Regular watering does not end there, but intensifies. It is often necessary to sow seeds in areas that have remained "empty". The appearance of weeds is normal, but must be removed by hand until the grass is thick and strong, after which the weeds can be treated with a selective herbicide.
The care of this grass refers to regular:
- Daily watering
- Mowing once a week
- Feeding four times a year
- Verticulating the lawn once a year.
